An escaped prisoner who was found wandering in the woods in Eynsford has been charged with being unlawfully at large.
Eli King was arrested on Sunday, December 2 following reports of suspicious activity in woodland near Castle Road, Eynsford.
Officers had been called to the area at around 8.50pm in response to concerns a man was believed to be carrying a weapon.
Following a search, officers found the man and saw he was in possession of an air rifle. The rifle was then seized and he was arrested for possessing a firearm in a public place.
Further enquiries would then establish the suspect was King, 28 and of no fixed address, who was wanted for absconding from HMP Ford in September.
He has since charged with being unlawfully at large and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
King was remanded to appear by video link before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 4 December.
