Molesters, council tax dodgers and other criminals have been put behind bars in South East London and North Kent in November.

News Shopper has reported on sex offences, murders and robberies, and these are some of the most shocking cases from last month.

Jack Gillett

News Shopper:

Jack Gillett, 27, of Northview in Swanley, was jailed for the repeated sexual abuse of a young child almost ten years ago.

Gillett was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for a string of offences he carried out when he was a teenager.

He abused his victim on four separate occasions, during a period between January 2006 and December 2009.

Hayley Weatherall

News Shopper:

A mum of three, 32, from Molland Lea in Kent, was jailed for conspiring to murder her terminally ill husband by shooting him in the face with her lover and his daughter.

Hayley Weatherall was handed a minimum sentence of 15 years after she was found guilty by a jury at Maidstone Crown Court on November 15.

Her lover Glenn Pollard will serve a minimum of 17 years in prison, and his daughter Heather was put behind bars for at  least 15 years.

Aaron Ali

News Shopper:

Aaron Ali, from Thamesmead, used his electric wheelchair to run over two elderly women aged 90 and 85 while they were waiting at a bus stop in Welling.

Ali reversed into his victims and casually drove off before being arrested the next day after he was  identified on CCTV.

Ali was sentenced to 24 months in prison on November 16 at Southwark Crown Court for harassment and actual bodily harm.

Aran Grant

News Shopper:

Aran Grant, 28, of Thursland Road, has been jailed for six years after a knife attack.

Grant denied causing grievous bodily harm with intent, but was found guilty after a trial at Maidstone Crown Court.

In April 2016, Grant left his victim with a three-inch stab wound to his pelvic area which also caused internal bleeding.

Emmanuel Okonji

News Shopper:

Emmanuel Okonji, 44, from Plumstead, was jailed after he dodged paying council tax by pretending to be a student and went on the run.

Okonji used a forged student certificate to falsely claim in 2015 that he was studying full-time at EThames Graduate School in Ilford.

He was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered to pay costs of £1,200. He was also sentenced to six weeks in prison for failing to attend court.

Joshua Alexander

News Shopper:

Joshua Alexander, 27, from Hither Green, has been jailed for eight years after a botched robbery attempt where he was stabbed before accidentally handing himself in.

Alexander stormed into a flat in Marchant Street dressed in dark clothing and balaclavas and  threatened a resident by holding a vodka bottle under a cloth to pretend it was a firearm.

The resident who had been clattered with the bottle ran up with a kitchen knife before Alexander suffered a stab wound in the struggle.
