Thamesmead will be playing host to a big festive light switch-on to brighten up the borough before Santa arrives.

On November 30, Thamesmead Christmas Sparkle, run in partnership with Peabody will take place between 4pm and 7pm at the Clocktower on Joyce Dawson Way.

Punchdrunk Theatre Company will be making a special appearance and hosting a festive drop-in decoration-making workshop.

There will also be live performances including Boppin’ Bunnies Christmas show on a pop-up music stage, craft workshops, ice carving, street performers, face painting and delicious free hot chocolate and mince pies.

The Christmas extravaganza all leads to the lighting ceremony which is set to dazzle at 6pm.

Then on December 1 between 12 and 6pm at General Gordon Square, you will be able to get involved with 'A Recycled Christmas', which is coming to Woolwich Winter Warmer.

IKEA will stage craft activities to promote recycling and sustainable living and also creates a cozy outdoor covered seating area near the big screen showing festive children’s films.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Danny Thorpe said: “The Thamesmead Christmas Sparkle and Woolwich Winter Warmer are fantastic events to finish our season of festive activities. There’s so much to do, see, eat and make, so come along and enjoy the festivities with us.”
