A youth football team has taken upon itself to stamp out pushy parents.

Motspur Park FC used Remembrance Day, not just to commemorate all those who fought in the First World War, but also teach a lesson to the people of today.

The club surveyed all their youth players, with one of the questions asked being how they felt when parents shout out telling them what to do.

A shocking 88 per cent said they did not like it.

One of the comments read: “I get scared and don’t want the ball.”

Gary Hammocks, Motspur Park FC secretary said providing a safe environment for kids to play was a top priority.

“Please help make today a memorable occasion by joining us in this one off ‘silent side line’ weekend," he said.

“Today let the football do the talking.”

There were a total of 14 games at Motspur Park on November 11 ranging from u7s to u16s.

A remarkable £2296 was also raised for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
