Callous thieves have snatched a nursing chair from baby-changing toilets in a bizarre theft at a shopping centre in Orpington.

The Walnuts Shopping Centre says the chair, which is designed to comfort mums when feeding their babies, was inexplicably nicked by two men at around 5pm on November 5.

Suppliers have said the cost of replacing the chair will be £539.

A spokesman for the shopping centre told News Shopper: "The Orpington community has been incredibly supportive in sharing our message so we would like to thank them for their engagement in our quest of the chair and the thieves who stole it."

CCTV footage of the suspected culprits is being handed over to police today.

Images of the pair have also been shared on the shopping centre's Facebook page.

News Shopper:

The men allegedly wrapped the chair in bubble-wrap and taped it up before fleeing.

A spokesman added: "We were so upset that this was stolen after having provided it for nursing mums using our baby-change facilities in our new toilets.

"It's just very annoying that two people decided they could help themselves and spoil it for everyone who would use these important facilities in comfort.

"It's not ideal but we will make the room as welcoming and comfortable as we can in the meantime.

"We posted on our social media as we just wanted our visitors to know why we don't have the best equipment for them all of a sudden."

The shopping centre has asked the suspected culprits to "please return" the chair.
