Now that we have got over Halloween, we can start thinking about Christmas.

The turning on of the lights means the festive season has well and truly started, so here is a list of when and where the Christmas lights will be switched on near you.

Oxford Street - Tuesday, November 6

This year Oxford Street has teamed up with Capital XTRA for a series of in-store gigs before and after the lights are switched on. Lewisham’s own artist Novelist is one of the highlights.

Orpington - Thursday, November 15

Now, don’t get too excited but Santa will be making an appearance at this year's light switch-on at the Walnuts Centre. The event will be held from 4pm to 8pm.

Bromley - Sunday, November 18

Petts Wood - Saturday, November 24

Beckenham - Saturday, December 1

Penge - Saturday, December 8

Greenwich - Wednesday, November 21

There will be a Christmas crafts workshop and Santa's grotto along with live music and street performers.

Eltham - Thursday, November 15

Featuring street performers, a live music stage and a lantern parade featuring local schools. There will also be a spectacular pyrotechnic finale.

Thamesmead - Friday, November 30

There will be a children's fairground rides, live music and performers and free hot chocolate and mince pies.

Woolwich - Saturday, December 1

There will be a lantern parade, street performers, live music and a grand firework finale. This year's lantern parade is recycle themes and passes through General Gordon Square for the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Bluewater - Thursday, November 8

Dartford’s Light Night will be open from 6.15pm and gates will be open from 5.30pm. The event will be hosted Heart Kent.
