Police have began scouring parts of the Thames as they continue their search for missing mum-of-five Sarah Wellgreen.

Marine search unit officers were spotted diving into the Thames by North Star Boulevard off Station Road in Greenhithe earlier this morning.

Kent Police have confirmed this is part of the search for Sarah, who has been missing for three weeks. Her disappearance is now being treated as a potential murder.

Sarah, 46, was last seen in the Bazes Shaw area of New Ash Green on October 9 and has not contacted her family or the police since then. She was reported missing on October 11 by her boyfriend.

Detective Superintendent Paul Fotheringham said she “disappeared without a trace”, which was “entirely out of character”.

The only item missing from her home was her black iPhone 4 which officers believe could provide vital information on her whereabouts.

Officers and local volunteers have combed through a large number of areas in the search for Sarah including Dartford, Eynsford, Longfield, Horton Kirby and Southfleet.

On October 16, a man in his 30s was arrested and later released on bail, pending further investigation, until November 16.

Earlier in the week, marine search units were seen diving into the River Darent in Dartford as part of the search.

A drone was also employed at one point to help officers search drains near the area she was last seen.

Neil James, Sarah's partner, has recently renewed his public appeal for any new information on her whereabouts. In a post on Facebook, Neil also expressed his gratitude towards those who are continuing to help in the search.

It read; "It’s exactly 3 weeks since we spoke to Sarah Jane Wellgreen. All of us thank everyone that’s doing their best to search for Sarah and especially all of you in the ’Searching for Sarah Wellgreen’ Facebook page, volunteers and Kent Police. Please help and share with everyone so we get her home x."

As the search continues, Det Supt Fotheringham has asked residents and landowners in rural areas to check their outhouses and areas surrounding their properties for any clues or signs of Sarah.

Police are also calling for anybody who has fixed CCTV within a five mile radius of New Ash Green to come forward if they have not already done so.
