A charity in Bromley who help young disabled people in the borough to find work have been given a funding boost.
Bromley Mencap received the whopping £141,000 from charitable funder City Bridge Trust.
The money will pay for three specialist job trainers to deliver work experience, volunteering opportunities and training for more than 80 disabled people in horticulture, catering and bike recycling.
Eddie Lynch MBE, chief executive of Bromley Mencap, said: "The training will enable young people to gain qualifications, enhance their independence and employment skills, increase their confidence and self-esteem and reduce their social isolation."
Alison Gowman, chairman of the City of London Corporation’s City Bridge Trust Committee, added: "This project will support young unemployed disabled people with new skills, give them a kickstart into a career and help them into employment.
"Work experience and training are vital to giving young people the confidence they need to find the right job."
Bromley Mencap, which is based on Masons Hill, has been helping the disabled since 1951.
