Six teenagers are wanted by police in connection with a “completely reckless” arson attack in Orpington.

A hedge which was set on fire burned down and caused external damage to a home in Adcock Walk shortly after midnight on September 16.

People inside the address were alerted to the blaze by their neighbour before they safely escaped.

One person, not named by police, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Scotland Yard says the six suspects are described as five males and a female, are all white, and aged between 15 and 18 years old.

Detective Inspector Mark Hine, from the Bromley Community Safety Unit (CSU), said: “This was a completely reckless act which has caused significant damage.

“Had the residents not made it out of the address to safety there could have been much more serious consequences.

“The occupants feel this was a targeted attack so police are treating the offence as a hate crime.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information which could help detectives in the investigation, is urged to contact the Bromley CSU on 07900 137 612.
