Police discovered a body in a Croydon woodland yesterday, which they believe to be a missing man.

No formal identification has taken place, but the deceased is believed to be Hennart Brown, 47, from Croydon.

The body was discovered in a woodland near Oak Avenue shortly after 4.50pm on October 16.

The death is not being treated suspiciously.

Mr Brown, from the Shrublands and North Shirley area, went missing on Sunday October 14.

Police urged the public not to approach him, due to fears he was suffering a mental health crisis.

A Met police spokesperson said: "Officers discovered a body in woodland near to Oak Avenue, Croydon, shortly after 16:50hrs on Tuesday, 16 October.

"No formal identification has taken place but officers believe that the deceased is Hennart Brown, 47, from Croydon.

"The death is being treated as non-suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.

"A post-mortem will be carried out in due course.

"As is routine, a referral has been made to the Directorate of Professional Standards."
