Plans to turn a McDonald's restaurant next to a roundabout into a drive-thru are set to be rejected in a council meeting next week.

The McDonald's on Bean Road in Greenhithe, which sits at the junction of London Road and St Clements Way, had proposed to put drive-thru facilities into the restaurant including a lane and booths.

To make room for the addition, the car park would be rearranged and cycle lanes would be moved.

After the application was assessed by experts drafted in by Dartford council, it was recommended the plans should be rejected due to a "detrimental impact" on the character and appearance of the area.

The McDonald's building, which was built in the 1700s, is considered to be of historical significance to the area, as a grade II listed building.

The report says the proposed development could bring a "cluttered and urbanised appearance" to the land.

The application is set to be debated at a council meeting with the Development Control Board next week.
