Three people from south-east London have been jailed for a combined 11 years after a burglary.

Expensive jewellery, cash, designer accessories and electricals were stolen from the home in Woldingham in Surrey on May 3.

After the theft, the burglars visited another home in the area before the owner disturbed them.

They were stopped by police in Bromley later that evening after a concerned resident called about a suspicious vehicle parked on their road.

Police said the vehicle was the same one seen by the homeowner who had challenged them.

The stolen goods and a false registration plate were found in the vehicle.

Joanne Eldridge, 32, of Sharloes Road in New Cross, was sentenced to 38 months in prison.

Nigel Spicer, 29, of Crystal Palace Park Road, was sentenced to 52 months in prison.

Stephen White, 34, of Chelsfield Lane, Orpington, was sentenced to 44 months in prison.

All three pleaded guilty to burglary.

PC Ed Bush, of Surrey Police, said: “This case shows just how important the public can be in preventing and detecting crime.

"The suspicions raised by the member of the public in Bromley led to the arrest of the three suspects and in turn meant the victims had all their property returned."

He also asked people to not hesitate in calling police when seeing something suspicious.
