Transport secretary Chris Grayling has said "one-click" compensation will be introduced for rail delays and disruption.
Passengers, once registered on the new system, will not have to repeatedly enter their details every time they want to make a claim.
New operators will also be expected to make greater use of technology, such as mobile phone apps, to inform passengers when they are entitled to claim compensation.
Mr Grayling recognised difficulties faced by passengers, adding: "Today I can announce that we will introduce one-click compensation for delays and disruption - making it easier for people to claim compensation."
But will this work? Are you still trying to claim back months of train travel after the disastrous timetable changes?
