The Met Police has issued some friendly advice on how to stay safe during freshers week.
As fresh faced freshers descend on to campuses around London, the Met wants to offer some simple tips to make sure they remain safe and their belongings remain secure.
Throughout university and college locations across London, officers with a visible presence will be on hand to offer advice.
Officers will be working with partners to engage with licensees and private hire companies, to make sure students are able to enjoy themselves and travel home safely.
Officers from the Safer Transport Command will be in attendance with Transport for London (TfL) staff to make sure students are also able to travel safety on London’s Tubes, trains, trams, boats and buses.
Volunteers and officers from the Met’s Special Constabulary will be attending higher education venues, offering students the opportunity to join the Metropolitan Police Service as a volunteer, whilst they are studying.
Students will be made aware of fraud, internet security and how to property mark their belongings by registering it with Immobilise.com
Chief Superintendent Steve Banks, from the Met’s Operational Command Unit, said: “This is an important time of the year when students and school leavers get together, often for their first time away from their parents. We are there to provide support and advice to help keep them safe.”
