A new Indian restaurant and bar, which has already been the location for an upcoming film, has held an opening party.

Shaf Rahman, who works in Chokha, said: "We opened the restaurant because we felt Beckenham was missing a fine dining experience which we feel people deserve."

The restaurant is inspired by street food markets in Northern and Southern India and Chokha hosted the opening party on September 20.

This came just a week after star of The Inbetweeners, Simon Bird, shot scenes for his directorial debut there.

The film, Days of the Bagnold Summer, features Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon and Friday Night Dinner's Tamsin Greig and is about the tensions between a heavy metal loving teenager and his librarian mum.

The Mayor of Bromley, Kim Botting, said in a speech during the opening party: "A business like Chokha is very important to see in Beckenham.

"The food and the restaurant itself look amazing and I would be delighted to come back. Well done to everyone at the restaurant and I wish you many successes in the future."
