Dark clouds and rainy weather are expected to clear this weekend to make way for clearer skies in London, according to weather forecasts.

The capital has seen wet conditions throughout this weekend, which may continue this afternoon, but that could dry up as the evening arrives.

And the Met Office is predicting temperatures to gradually rise most of the week, starting at 15 C on Monday (September 24) before peaking at 22 C on Thursday.

Their forecast reads: "Sunday starting dull and wet with persistent and often heavy rain clearing eastwards by early afternoon. Turning dry and largely sunny in the afternoon, though feeling cool in the strengthening wind with perhaps the odd shower.

"Any early fog clearing to a mostly sunny day [on Monday]. Some cloud building up for the afternoon. Winds remaining on the light side.

"Dry with light winds and plenty of sunshine during this period [next week]. Some chilly nights though, with localised grass frosts and fog. Daytime temperatures trending upwards, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday."

Similar forecasts have been made in Dartford and Swanley as well – beginning at 15 C but peak at 21 C on Thursday in the former and 20 C in the latter on the same day.
