Dementia residents at a care home in Bromley have been treated to a special visit from some furry friends.

A ferret, Bengal cat, two rabbits and a barn owl turned up to Park Avenue Care Home on Wednesday (September 19) morning to the delight of residents.

Staff at Second Chance Animal and Rescue travelled from Swanley for the fun visit.

A spokesman for the care home said: “Thunder the Bengal cat was the crowd favourite, as he settled down in everybody’s laps for a snooze. The residents loved stroking his soft fur and talking to him – he kept meowing. Afterwards, residents were reminiscing about their own cats that they used to own.

“Everyone couldn’t believe the size of the two giant rabbits as they hoped around the room. They made Bear the albino ferret look tiny. All of the animals were tame and calm, and happily got passed around the room for each resident to hold.”
