A Swanscombe mum has warned other parents in the area to beware after she claims a man in a van followed her while she was walking down the street with her children in a pram

The mother, who did not want to be named, was walking her children to a baby group on Ames Road at about 1.15pm on Tuesday when she spotted two men in a van who were "acting suspiciously."

The mum alleges the men stopped in their car, and the man in the passenger seat started staring at her babies.

After the car behind forced the van to move on, the mum said it "moved very slowly."

She added the man "had his head full out the window" and continued staring.

After she shouted at them to leave, the men drove off, but the van appeared again minutes later, and was slowly cruising past her as she pushed her children along.

After reporting the incident to police, the mum posted a warning on Facebook to other parents in the area.

She said the incident "could be innocent" but added the behaviour was "definitely not normal."

Speaking to News Shopper, she added: "It really didn't seem right at all. Who stops and stares at your kids?"

A Kent Police spokesman confirmed officers were looking into the incident.

He said: "Kent Police received a report that a van was believed to have been acting suspiciously in Ames Road, Swanscombe, at 4.29pm on Tuesday 18 September 2018.

"The informant stated that at around 1.30pm that day a van was driving slowly as she walked with her children.

"The informant told the occupants to leave and it drove away. At no point did the occupants of the van attempt to communicate with the woman or the children.

"Officers are conducting enquiries into the circumstances."
