The police watchdog has launched an investigation after a man in his 30s died following a 999 call to a disturbance in Bexleyheath.

Officers were called to Eversley Avenue by a member of the public at about 10pm on Monday night (September 17).

When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s, who was "taken unwell."

After being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service, the man was pronounced dead at 11.43pm.

It is believed the man had been detained when he fell ill.

The Met Police's Directorate of Professional Standards has been made aware of the incident.

A referral was also made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

An IOPC spokesman confirmed an inquiry had been launched and investigators had been sent to the scene.
