A woman has been praised by police for her bravery after she punched a man when he and another man tried to grab her after approaching her in their car.

A Facebook post from police in the Blendon and Penhill policing ward said the 22-year-old woman had been approached on September 8 at about 6.30pm while walking down Carisbrooke Avenue.

The woman reported a black Audi stopped near her and two men - one white man and one black man - got out of the car.

According to the woman, the white man then "grabbed" her - so she took quick action.

She punched one of the men, and sprayed perfume in the face of the other to get away.

Police have said they do not know what the men's intentions were and no suspects have been identified.

Anyone who might have seen the incident is urged to get in touch with police on 101, via Facebook or by emailing blendon.penhill.snt@met.police.uk.
