People in Dartford should not be worried about their safety following three robberies in the same area in a few days, according to police.

Police appealed for witnesses after two men were targeted on the same night in Central Road and adjacent Sherbourne Close.

Both men reported being assaulted by a group of men who stole cash and other items from them before driving off between September 7 and 8.

On September 11, a man reported he had been robbed between 12.10am and 12.26am in Central Road.

He had stopped at temporary traffic lights when he claims he was targeted by five men who were driving a white van and a black car.

The man reported the men then pulled him out of his car and drove off in it. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Chief Inspector Andy Gadd, of Kent Police, reassured Dartford residents: "We understand that these incidents have caused some concerns within the community but I’d like to reassure residents that we are actively investigating these incidents.

"We do not believe there is a risk to the wider public and believe that the victims were specifically targeted.

"Within the next few weeks we will be holding a residents’ meeting to discuss policing concerns so I would encourage those who do have concerns to attend this meeting.

"Details have not yet been finalised but will be published when they are."
