Four young kittens found abandoned in a box have been rehomed, with the help of Battersea Cats and Dogs Home.

The eight-week-old kittens, named Gina, Gwen, Grace and George by staff, were spotted by a family beside some bins outside a block of flats in Ilford, East London.

Their rescuers took them to the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home’s Brands Hatch centre in Kent, where fortunately they were found to be in good health and even ‘quite playful’.

After spending four weeks recuperating in a foster home they were taken to new, permanent homes last week.

Michelle Bevan, Rehoming and Welfare Manager at Battersea Brands Hatch, said: “These beautiful little kittens were lucky they were found and brought into Battersea Brands Hatch.

“Fortunately, they were found quickly, and this tale has had a happy ending – but it could easily have been a different story.

“We would always recommend anyone who is unable to look after their pets to bring them into their local rescue centre.

“Here at Battersea Brands Hatch we never judge anyone for bringing their animal in.

“This makes it a lot easier and quicker to find a new home for the animals.”

The Battersea Brands Hatch cattery is supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The centre cares for over 260 cats and kittens that arrive every year, with staff and volunteers providing shelter, food and water.

The four Gs may have found homes already, but there are many more cats to help.
