MP Stella Creasy recently revealed that 'misogyny' should be made a hate crime.
The Labour politician is currently trying to change the law on misogynistic behaviour and wants to make cat-calling illegal.
Misogyny involves showing dislike, contempt or ingrained prejudice against women.
The amended law would allow a sentencing judge to take into account if the offender "demonstrated towards the victim of the offence hostility based on the victim having (or being presumed to have) a particular sex characteristic".
We asked our Shopper readers if calling out someone 's appearance in public or in a threatening way should be made illegal.
The majority of the votes said that it shouldn't be made illegal.
Here is what they said:
Rob Crashaw said: "Not really sure how it could be enforced. The Police don't even investigate Burglaries any more so i doubt they will find time to investigate someone whistling inappropriately."
Emily Irene Walton said: "Yes why not? What's more important? Protecting a potentially scared woman against harassment or protecting the rights of people to harass random women?"
Anna Marie said: "Harassment has its own laws. Misogyny can simply be someone that says women are inferior to men. Whilst most of us would disagree, I wouldn't want expression of those ideas to be criminalized. How many women say that women are better than men? I assume if this MP wants misogyny criminalized, so should misandry?"
Scott Hughes said: "Would man hating be a crime as well then?"
