You don’t have to be in London to appreciate its skyline after a vantage point in Chelsfield was restored.

The area is known as Chelsfield Common and is located behind the car park at the junction of Warren Road and The Highway.

Brian Willson, secretary of Friends of Warren Road, has helped rebuild the viewpoint after the original pillar was in a state of disrepair.

He said he was “extremely proud” to update the site which was previously earmarked as an area for a new road before the M25 was built.

A metal engraved plate signalling landmarks was erected in 1994 but this was damaged over the years because of vandalism and weathering.

The Friends of Warren Road group decided to rebuild the structure to include new landmarks like the Shard.

The Chelsfield Village Society and Bromley Council supported the project which was completed on June 24.

An artist painted an impression of the view and a local builder rebuilt the pillar, with the finished result being an oak board and a plate showing the area.

Mr Willson said he hopes “many of you visit and admire the view”.

Landmarks include Bromley Town Centre, the Crystal Palace mast in the west, Bexleyheath and the Dartford Thames Crossing in the east.
