The mother of a 17-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in Brockley three years ago has organised a memorial for her son.

Shaquan Fearon was stabbed in the leg as he walked to a youth centre in Turnham Road with his friend Junior Inneh, also 17, in September 2015.

Mr Inneh was slashed in the face as he tried to help Shaquan during the onslaught which lasted under 60 seconds.

Shaquan suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics battled to save his life.

Two teenagers, aged 15 and 16, went to trial charged with murder, attempted murder and wounding with intent, but the case was dropped after two juries failed to return verdicts.

Despite multiple murder trials, nobody has been held accountable for Shaquan's death.

Sharon Fearon, the boy’s mum, has now organised a memorial for Shaquan at Honor Oak Community Centre on September 9.

Damian Griffiths, trustee at the community centre, told News Shopper: “Shaquan was another entirely innocent young man who was a victim of knife crime in London, and the community want to remember him and also highlight again the devastating impact of knife-carrying on families.”

Vicky Foxcroft, MP for Lewisham Deptford, along with Barry Mizen, whose son Jimmy was murdered in 2008, will both speak at the event.
