A set of Croydon triplets are on cloud nine following an extraordinary GSCE day.

Rhianna, Daniel and Maddie Harding were all "nervously excited" last week when students around the country checked to see if their hard work had paid off.

Before the day, the trio felt pretty confident, but as it drew nearer, a little doubt started to creep in.

So it was Daniel who was first to take the plunge.

At Whitgift School, he walked straight up to the counter, opened his envelop and breathed a huge sigh of relief, turned to dad Rick and said "yep – all good.

"He was especially pleased with his A in Japanese were he knew he had struggled with one of the four components, and definitely chuffed with his five grade 9s out of six subjects marked under the new scheme," Rick said.

"Daniel’s strategy had been in his structured revision program which, he set up himself targeting a minimum of three-and-a-half hours every non-school day."

Then nearly two hours later it was the girls' time to shine at Caterham School.

"They grabbed their envelope and disappeared off with a friend to open in private," Rick said.

"It was a good few minutes before they returned, all smiles."

Maddie finished with 10A*, (8/9) and 1 A.

Rhianna went one better with 11 A* (including 6 out of 6 grade 9) and also 1 A.

"Maddie’s philosophy had been effective revision rather than quantity, whereas Rhianna’s ethos was starting early," Rick said.

"From well before the mocks and not letting up.

"All three said concentration in class had been key to their success and working through all available passed papers, whilst avoiding distraction."
