OnBlackheath is back and here are the top things you should see and do while you are there.

The festival is London’s biggest end-of-summer party and will return to Blackheath on September 8 and 9.

The two-day music and food event will take place in the beautiful green spaces of Blackheath with a huge line-up of acts to enjoy.

We have compiled a list of the best SEVEN things to look out for at the festival.

1. Squeeze!

Surely we don’t need to tell you why this is exciting? They brought the house down when playing the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2016, and now they are back on more familiar ground.

Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook formed the band in 1973 just a short distance from Blackheath in Deptford, it sparked a career which has produced 16 albums, fame on both sides of the Atlantic and instantly recognisable songs like Cool For Cats, Up The Junction and Labelled With Love.

2. FOOD!

Food is the best part of the day/life, right? At OnBlackheath you will be able to indulge in The Cheese Truck, Yorkshire Burritos (yes, this is a Yorkshire pudding filled with yummy goodness) and an Only Jerkin’ stall. Soho Vegan Market is a new addition to the festival so there is something for everyone. What more could you need? We nearly forgot the churros. There will be a lot of churros.

3. Boppin’ Bunnies

Anna Mellon set up Boppin’ Bunnies in south-east London to introduce young children and families to music lessons. These sessions are musical, fun and educational. Working with composer Andy Mellon they have recorded all their own musical material and have released three albums: Bop to the Beat, Wriggle to the Rhythm and Toddle and Twist.

Anna wanted to develop a class where the teacher’s expertise and background was in music, teaching and workshop leading, and keeping the sessions interactive, educational and unique.

4. Lewisham and Greenwich Choir

The local singers were first seen on Gareth Malone’s BBC2 show, Sing While you Work and since then they have gone on to beat Justin Bieber to the top spot in the charts. They’ve appeared at Glastonbury and have even sung live with one of the headliners – Squeeze.

5. Billy Bragg

Britain’s finest political singer-songwriter Billy Bragg left the army in 1981 to follow his passion for making music. He’s not only kept the rebellious spirit of British music, forged in the punk days of the late 1970s, alive with his firebrand lyrics but has proved plenty of times he can create a pop anthem with songs like Sexuality and Waiting for the Great Leap Forward.

6. Let's All Dance

Let’s All Dance spread the love of movement through their regular events and classes, and use compelling and clear storytelling, beautiful costumes and stunning dancing to entertain and engage young audiences.

Then...The Teddy Bears Picnic has been created specifically for 0-7 year-olds, while Let’s All Dance will also be performing The Princess and the Frog, which will be great entertainment for all the family.

7. Norman Jay

This London-born DJ played his first gig in the 1970s and has travelled the world since with his contemporary Afro-American music including funk, disco, soul and jazz fusion. Norman now works on the club scene, mixing old and new sounds but not forgetting his musical roots.

Tier 1 tickets for ONBlackheath 2018 have sold out but Tier 2 tickets are now available with under-16s day tickets costing £18, under-16s weekend tickets £25, under-12s day tickets £10 and under-12s weekend tickets £15.
