Plans for a replacement train station in Kidbrooke have been submitted to planning officers.

Berkley Homes has put in revamped proposals for a new train station which will be part of the Kidbrooke Village project.

The wider masterplan for the redevelopment of the Ferrier Estate was approved by the council in 2009, comprising of 4,000 homes that will be split across seven phases.

Kidbrooke station has trains running to London Bridge, Charing Cross, Victoria and Waterloo East.

The developer said in its application: “The existing railway station building will be replaced with a new station accessed directly at street level from the Village Square.

“The station will be positioned more centrally to the existing platform and will be larger to more ably accommodate existing passenger demand and be suitable for the future increases in footfall through the station that will result from the masterplan development proposals.”

The plans include room for shops, cycle storage, a ticket hall and toilets.

Outline consent for a new station has already been approved, with the developer now submitting detailed proposals that will be considered by planning officers at the council.

It follows an application submitted in July for 80 homes as part of the village masterplan.

Berkeley Homes land director David Brown said: “These exciting plans for a new train station at Kidbrooke Village are just another step in Berkeley Homes vision of delivering one of London’s most talked about regeneration projects, in partnership with the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

"The new station will form part of the permanent Village Centre which is at the heart of the development and will complement a number of new commercial offerings, which will not only enhance the experience for the wider community, but also provide additional employment opportunities.”
