The estranged husband of a woman who was found dead at a block of flats in Bromley has pleaded not guilty to murdering her.

Sophie Cavanagh, 31, was found on May 20 at Dryden House in Chatterton Road.

Her cause of death was given as “compression to the neck”.

Her husband, Martin Cavanagh, 34, handed himself in to police after an appeal to find him.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link on Wednesday (August 15) and pleaded not guilty to murder.

Cavanagh was remanded in custody and will stand trial on November 19.

Sophie’s death was initially treated as unexplained before a murder probe was launched after a post-mortem examination suggested it was suspicious.

She leaves behind two young children and friends described her as an “inspirational” woman.
