Two staff members were tied up during a suspected armed robbery at a Carphone Warehouse unit on a retail park in Charlton this morning.

Police descended on Peninsular Retail Park off Bugsby’s Way after an alarm was activated within the store between 9 and 10am today (July 11).

Officers discovered two male staff members with their wrists tied with tape and learned that a "large quantity" of cash and mobile phones had been stolen.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Police were alerted to an alarm activation at a commercial premises in Peninsular Park, Bugsby’s Way, SE7.

“Officers attended and found two male staff members with their hands restrained.

“It was established that two male suspects entered the store at about 9.20am and threatened them with what is believed to be a firearm.

“The suspects then tied the victims’ wrists with tape before stealing a large quantity of mobile phones and cash.”

The suspects then fled the shop before the victims activated the alarm.

It was confirmed the suspects are still at large and no arrests have yet been made.

London Ambulance Service was also called to the incident, with paramedics treating the victims for symptoms of shock.
