A charity shop set up in memory of a Beckenham teenager who was hit by a train is closing after five years.

Rosie Whitaker was 15 when she died at Beckenham Junction Station on June 11, 2012.

The teenager had been visiting self-harm websites before her death.

Remembering Rosie was set up in Cotmandene Crescent, St Pauls Cray, with all proceeds going to suicide charity PAPYRUS.

Rosie’s family have raised more than £16,000 for suicide prevention work.

However, they have now announced their charity shop is sadly closing.

A family statement read: “We are so grateful to have had so much support from our community. The amount of donations, shoppers and support in general has been amazing.

“We have had some fantastic volunteers over the last five years, without them we could not have done it.

“We have become friends with so many of you and will very much miss everyone.

“There is no doubt that we have saved some lives by raising awareness in suicide prevention and that was our main objective as a family hoping to prevent other families going through the devastation it causes to lose a loved one by suicide.”

A Remembering Rosie shop is still located in Manchester.

Rosie was involved in a number of activities including swimming, diving and she even danced at the Royal Albert Hall.

While studying for 10 GCSEs at Langley Park School for Girls Rosie suffered an eating disorder and began self-harming.
