Commuters coming home to Hither Green this evening are reportedly being held up by police officers who have installed a metal detector at the station.
Images have appeared on social media showing long queues as people are walking through a knife arch one-by-one to leave the station, with police monitoring the traffic.
At the time of writing, it is unclear why the detector has been installed at the station. News Shopper has contacted British Transport Police for more information.

On Twitter, one commuter praised the idea for helping to combat knife crime in the capital, but said there were some "angry commuters" at the station as a result.
