A gang of thieves is being hunted by police after a cash machine was stolen when a car drove through the front of the Coop supermarket in Istead Rise early this morning (May 15).

Police released an appeal for witnesses today after the incident, which led to officers chasing a vehicle into Essex, initially reported at around 12.30am this morning.

Four men are believed to have stolen the cash machine from inside the shop after driving a black Land Rover Discovery through the front.

Despite chasing a separate vehicle into Essex, no arrests have yet been made.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "Four men were reported to have stolen the cash machine from inside the shop before it was put into another vehicle, which was waiting nearby.

"Officers attended and a vehicle was pursued into Essex. The Land Rover Discovery was left at the scene and officers are carrying out enquiries to locate the other vehicle. At this time no arrests have been made."
