A distressed man who plunged 30ft from Bexleyheath Asda on Friday afternoon is now in a stable condition, police have confirmed.

The man in his 30s, whose identity has not been confirmed, climbed onto the roof of Asda on the Broadway on Friday morning, and was pictured to be holding something, reportedly a knife.

Emergency services were called and part of the Broadway was closed off while he threatened to jump and onlookers gathered around the cordon

The man also reportedly claimed the NHS had killed his baby while he stood on the edge of the roof.

After about an hour and a half, he jumped from the top of the building and was immediately airlifted to hospital.
