A talented young Lewisham race driver is about to make the step up to driving regular race cars once he hits 14.

Still only 13, Kye Kinch is already the second best race driver in the UK in his age bracket and is set to compete against against people from as far as South Africa.

“He wants to be Lewis Hamilton. He is a focused, determined and talented boy and we are so proud of him”, said his mum Sandra Price, listing his achievements to date.

These include more than 80 trophies in karting championships and he has won test days with real racing teams such as F1 Force India.

Sandra said: “He has many accomplishments under his belt, including championship wins, and he has participated in a charity race at Brentwood Karting raising funds for Essex air ambulance.”

He is only 13 years old which is why his next year is the big step up. At the moment he is still driving go karts, which “only” go up 60 mph.

When he turns 14 in March he will start driving “full on real cars” according to his mum, such as Ford Fiestas in official races.

With bigger cars also comes bigger sponsorship deals, which is what his mum is hoping for with maybe local companies wanting to put their logos on his new race car.

Sandra said: “He has had an amazing start in the world of motor sport and we will continue to support every step of his journey.

“We would love for anyone to be able to offer advice, support or sponsors for this rising star.”
