Dog owners in Cray Meadows have been warned to keep control of their pets after a loose mutt allegedly killed a gosling in a mad chase.
In a letter to Cray Meadows Police, the North Cray Residents Association explained its concerns after an owner let his dog off the lead near the river, before it forced a gosling into the path of a swan, causing the young bird's death.
The letter claimed the dog owner "shrugged his shoulders and walked off" after being confronted about his dog's behaviour.
Since the incident was reported, officers have warned owners to be responsible and make sure their dogs are under control.
As more goslings begin to hatch at this time of year, police are concerned about their safety.
Police are warning that aggressive or out-of-control dogs can be seized by officers if they are considered dangerous.
This can result in owners being prosecuted.
