A person has been arrested after a teenage boy was stabbed in broad daylight in Woolwich this afternoon.
The stabbing on Beresford Square, near Woolwich Arsenal Station, took place at around 5pm.
Passersby reported seeing police cordons and ambulances in the area, with one mother saying she and her children had been walking in the area at the time and had seen someone run past them.
A Met Police spokesman confirmed: "We were called to Beresford Square to reports of a stabbing.
"A male in his teens was injured.
"One arrest has been made for possession of an offensive weapon."
The condition of the victim is currently unknown, but unconfirmed reports suggest he was stabbed in the leg.
Matthew Pennycook, MP for Greenwich and Woolwich, has tweeted about the incident, calling for an end to youth violence.
Horrified to hear about yet another stabbing in #Woolwich. We must not and will not accept such violence as a normal feature of life in our city #endyouthviolence
