Police have released CCTV footage of a man suspected of breaking into a 90-year-old woman's home in Bickley while she was inside.

The woman, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, was lying in bed at the time of the burglary, at approximately 6.30pm on Tuesday, March 6.

Bromley police have also released images of several pieces of jewellery taken from the house on Blackbrook Lane.

The footage was captured on cameras the victim's family had installed in her home. It shows a man forcing open the woman's bedroom window and climbing in, before rummaging through her dresser for valuables.

As the woman confronted him and asked what he was doing, he replied: "I am looking for jewellery," and continued to search the house.

Detective Constable Dean Roberts,  of Bromley police, said: "This incident has left the victim absolutely terrified and her family devastated. She has been targeted in a place where she has every right to feel at her most safe and comfortable.

News Shopper:

"The CCTV footage is very clear. Do you recognise the man captured in these images?

"We also believe a torch light was shone through the window while the man was inside, suggesting there may have been an accomplice who was not caught on camera. Did you see two people acting suspiciously in the area?

"I would urge anyone with information to call us as soon as possible."
