Police are looking for witnesses after a "serious assault" in Beckenham left a man stabbed.

The "fight" happened on Saturday (March 10) on Beckenham High Street, believed to be between Sainsburys and the Odeon cinema.

Officers were called at 7.05pm, but when they attended there were no injured parties or suspects on scene.

However, a 23-year-old later turned up to hospital with stab wounds - his condition is serious but stable.

Detective Inspector Edward Facer said: "This was a very serious assault that took place on the High Street which would have been busy with people frequenting bars, restaurants and cinema on a Saturday evening.

"Anyone with any information should contact the investigation team on 020 8247 4863. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A man, 24, has been charged in relation to the investigation and is currently in custody.

Detectives from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command are looking to identify a "number of people" believed to have been involved.
