A bank in Sevenoaks High Street was evacuated after a suspected wartime shell was found.
Kent Police was called to the Santander this morning (January 23) at 10.44am.
They immediately evacuated the building and cordoned off the area.
A spokesman told News Shopper: "Officers attended the area and, to ensure public safety, enforced a cordon which also saw some shops evacuated.
"Following an analysis of the device, it was found that the item is not a threat to the public.
"The cordon has been stood down and staff have been allowed to return to their shops."
The bank has now reopened.
SEVENOAKS update: A bomb scare in the High Street this morning was caused when a member of the public donated a ‘cannon shell’ at the Oxfam charity next door to Santander bank. The device was declared as deactivated and safe after an inspection by Kent Police.
