A brave Lewisham policeman put his own life at risk by diving onto train tracks to save a drunk man in Ladywell.
On Tuesday January 2, Chief Inspector Colin Carswell was waiting for his train when he saw a man riding his bike along the platform, collide with another member of the public and onto the tracks - knocking himself unconscious.
CI Carswell jumped to the man's rescue, and with help from train staff, pulled the man back to the platform.
The man began to come round and became aggressive to Ci Carswell and those trying to help him - just as Lewisham and British Transport Police arrived on scene.
Several bottles of alcohol were found in the man's possession and police quickly established he was in fact drunk.
He was arrested for endangering public safety on the railway and after a check over at hospital he was placed into custody.
