More than 500 Greenwich residents, young and old made a healthy start to the New Year at the newly opened Sutcliffe Park Sports Centre.

Enthusiastic crowds enjoyed free tasters of the exciting, state of the art facilities on January 2.

The indoor and outdoor centre includes an BMX/Skatepark, 'clip and climb' climbing hall and an all year round indoor sprint track.

The official opening of the Sutcliffe Park Sports Centre will take place in February.

Councillor Denise Scott-McDonald who was in attendance to enjoy the fun of the day said: "This centre represents a major investment in sports provision in the Royal Borough, especially for the south of the borough.

"I am delighted that so many residents turned out to enjoy the facilities at the very start of 2018."

The centre provides a wide range of opportunities for sports participation for all and it's first-class facilities also include a 60m sprint track, indoor throwing cage, indoor space to be used by schools or groups and an outdoor area to support learning in the park nature reserve.

Opening hours for the centre is Mon to Friday from 09.00am- 9pm and weekends from 09.00am-6pm.
