A fire ripped through a Thamesmead home barely an hour after 2018 had begun.
London Fire Brigade were called to Lakeside Avenue around 1.30am on New Year’s Day to reports of a fire.
Four fire engines and 21 fire fighters attended where they found the garage of a semi-detached, two storey house on fire.
In a two hour battle with the New Year’s blaze, the garage was completely destroyed, as was part of the roof.
A woman and a child managed to evacuate from the home before the brigade arrived and no injuries were reporter.
A spokesperson from LFB said the cause of the fire is believed to be due to an electrical fault in a fuse box in the garage.
