The godmother of a teenager who was killed in a Penge park is raising money so his family can afford funeral costs.
Michael Jonas had only just turned 17 when he was found in Betts Park with multiple stab wounds on November 2.
Police attempted emergency first aid on the teenager but they couldn’t save him and he was pronounced dead just after 8.15pm.
It was the same park where Michael had grown up and had learnt to ride his bike.
Abigail Browne, Michael’s godmother, said: “Michael lost his life in the park where he’d spent many happy hours with his family and friends over the years.
“Michael Jonas was my godson and I carefully watched him mature from birth into adolescence.
“As a parent you would not expect to be burying your 17 year old son who will never experience his 21st birthday, getting married or becoming a father.
“The family would welcome any donations and contributions immediately so that they can prepare for the funeral and burial of their much loved son.”
Michael went to Harris Academy in Beckenham where he used to play the drums alongside his younger sister for football matches.
Mike Jonas, Michael’s dad, said shortly before his son died he told him he didn’t want to be in Penge anymore.
Mike said: “He was the kind of boy that if a fight started he would be the one who would tell the other boys to stop.
“He was in no gang, and he was no gangster. He was supportive and loved by everyone around here - everyone loved Michael.”

Two 17-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with murder and are due to appear at crown court on April 16.
