The green light has been given for another school to open next year at Ebbsfleet Garden City.

The second primary school in the development will have 420 pupils, with admissions for reception already open for 2018.

Hope Community School will be run by the New Generation Schools Trust at Springhead Park, where hundreds of homes are being built.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation gave approval for a new school and for a new nursery to be open by September next year.

Ian Piper, Chief Executive at Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, said: “We are delighted Ebbsfleet Garden City will soon see its second primary school up and running with work expected to start immediately.

“The growth of the Garden City continues at real pace with many leading house builders on site and more to come in 2018.”

A third primary school is expected for 2020 after plans were approved in part of a 600-home scheme in Northfleet East.

Paul Weston, Chairman of New Generation Schools Trust, said: “We are delighted to have reached this important milestone in the delivery of a brand new school for the community of Northfleet.

"The design process has been challenging and exciting and the end result is a modern, purpose built facility which will provide an outstanding educational environment for local families.”

The plans for this free school were submitted by the Education and Skills Funding Agency, an agency sponsored by the Department for Education.

More than 600 new homes were started in Ebbsfleet Garden City in the last year as and the area also saw its first pub and restaurant opening.

A date for a new secondary school in Stone was set by Councillors in Dartford last week.
