Why aren’t people choosing to enter local politics is the question on the minds of politicians in Lewisham.

The council are trying to find out what might stop people entering politics as councillors and, once elected, what stops them from remaining in their post.

A survey is being run by the council to find out what locals think is involved in the role of councillors.

Once the results roll in, a group will use the responses to identify ways to support people to consider entering local politics.

The group will present the recommendations to a full meeting of Lewisham Council in November 2017.

To submit your reasons, you can fill in the survey on the Lewisham Council website.
