The leader of Bromley council is set to tender his resignation.
Councillor Stephen Carr said that he will cease to be the leader of the council at 3pm tomorrow (September 15).
He said his decision to go was made because he was at a stage in his life where he wanted to move on and try other things.
Cllr Carr told News Shopper: “I’ve always sought to be the master of my own destiny rather than go on too long or be forced out or required to leave.”
“I’ve always said to my colleagues I will not be pushed out, I will go at my own time. That is what I’m doing, the time is right for me.”
He added: “I’m very proud of what we have achieved in a very difficult time."
A new leader will be elected on September 25.
