A group of environmentalists are investigating pollution in the River Ravensbourne and are asking members of the public to help them.
The Ravensbourne Riverfly Monitoring Initiative is looking for volunteers to conduct their first Outfall Safari.
The Outfall Safari will involve surveying stretches of the river and recording the impact of pollution and will take place this October.
Training sessions for volunteers will take place at the Lewisham Arts Café in Manor Park at 10am until noon on the September 27.
Pollution can find its way into rivers through outfalls (drains) because of misconnected plumbing.
A recent pollution incident on the Glass Mill Pond, on Glass Mill Lane, Bromley, occurred last weekend. The pond connects to the river Ravensbourne.
Anybody who wants to volunteer should email ravensbournermi@gmail.com.
