Students from a Chislehurst school are set to go to China as part of an exchange programme.
Modern Language students at Chislehurst School for Girls were visited last week by 39 Chinese students from the Jiangsu Province of China.
The visit ran from July 10 to July 14. Chinese students got a taste of British life by going out on a rainy picnic and sitting in on lessons at the school.
The Chislehurst students were able to experience some of the language and culture of their visitors.
Chislehurst student Caitlin Fletcher said she was very happy to have learnt some mandarin and even used her newly-acquired language skills to say goodbye and thank you to the visitors.
Jo Chappells, International Co-ordinator at the school commented, “We are hoping this programme will lead to further opportunities for our students, such as mandarin lessons and hopefully a trip to China!
“We aim to encourage them to become 21st century global citizens and by developing stronger links with the world’s largest trading nation, we hope to create stronger educational, business and career opportunities for our students”.
