A man has been found dead on the train line near Plumstead station.
Commuters faced major delays as emergency services dealt with the incident this morning.
British Transport Police said the death was being treated as "unexplained" after they were called at 6.25am today.
A BTP spokesman said: "We have launched an investigation after the body of a man was found on the line near Plumstead railway station this morning.
"Officers were called to the scene at 6.25am and attended alongside colleagues from the ambulance service.
"The man was declared dead at the scene.
"The death is being treated as unexplained while officers work to establish the exact circumstances of how he came to be on the tracks.
"They are also working to identify him and inform his next of kin."
A tweet posted by Southeastern said: "Unfortunately a body on the line at Plumstead has cause [sic] major disruption".
All lines were blocked due to the incident between Charlton and Slade Green.
Services running through the stations were delayed, cancelled or revised but all lines have since reopened.
